Tri-State News regarding Coronavirus, Covid-19

Your health and safety and that of every person affected by scleroderma is of paramount importance to the Scleroderma Foundation Tri-State Chapter. The Tri-State Chapter takes very seriously the threat the coronavirus presents to individuals living with scleroderma.

Therefore, we have moved our support group meetings to virtual or canceled some in the short term. View our calendar above for individual meeting details.

Our Stepping Out to Cure Scleroderma Walks for June have transitioned to virtual walks as well. Consider Stepping Out and raising awareness in your community, your way! Click on Tri-State Events for further information.

2020 Stepping Out to Cure Scleroderma Walk Season is HERE!

Virtual Walk 2020 Website.jpgVirtual Walk pages are live!

What is a virtual walk?

Virtual walks is an online fundraising initiative that allows people to register and hold their own symbolic WALK while still raising money for the Scleroderma Foundation Tri-State Chapter Mission.  You can WALK how and when it best fits you (safely and social distancing) in your home, in your yard, around the neighborhood at at time that is convenient to you and your team.

Remember you pick where you would like to do it, who you would like it with, and what time you start.

Represent the Scleroderma Community by wearing a scleroderma t-shirt of choice and share your photos on social media using #SteppingOutforScleroderma #SFTristate

Don't have a scleroderma t-shirt?

Order a 2019 walk t-shirt for $5.00 plus shipping (while supplies last) by calling (800) 867-0885 or create a custom shirt online via cafepress or a similar site.

Step Out in one of these Virtual Walks on October 10, 2020

Long Island, NY   |   Manhattan, NY   |   New Haven, CT

Poughkeepsie, NY   |   Ridgefield Park, NJ   |   Rochester, NY

About Us

Tri-State Chapter

Welcome to the Scleroderma Foundation Tri-State Chapter website. We serve the states of New York, New Jersey, and Connecticut.

"Life is a journey, not a destination."  Ralph Waldo Emerson

Why Are We Here?

Ignorance is not bliss when dealing with scleroderma! For most of us when we became ill, there was little or no real information that we could explore to ease our anxiety or educate ourselves. We had never heard of scleroderma and there were few in the medical community who knew much about it or how to treat us. Most of us felt scared, isolated, and totally in the dark.

Who Are We?

We are men and women who happen to have scleroderma and live in New York, New Jersey, or Connecticut. Thousands of people live with scleroderma. Most of us, perhaps just like you, have found the world of scleroderma to be strange, and at times, scary. We have a vast array of medical problems due to scleroderma, and varying degrees of life experience dealing with those problems. Some of us are new to this world; others have been living with scleroderma in one form or another for 5, 10, 20, 30, 40, and yes, even 50 years or more. We are here for each other and for you.

Our Mission

The mission of the Scleroderma Foundation Tri-State Chapter is threefold:

  • To provide educational and emotional support to people with scleroderma and their families;
  • To stimulate and support research designed to identify the cause and cure of scleroderma as well as improve methods of treatment and;
  • To enhance the public’s awareness of this disease.
