Five scleroderma experts answer questions about COVID-19 and its impact on individuals who have scleroderma.

  • WHO:
    • Maureen Sauvé: president of both the Scleroderma Society of Ontario and Scleroderma Canada. She lives with scleroderma and has a long history of successful advocacy. Maureen is the co-Chair of SPIN’s Patient Advisory Board and a member of SPIN’s Steering Committee.
    • Dr. Janet Pope: rheumatologist and epidemiologist and professor of medicine at Western University in London, Ontario, Canada. She conducts a successful research program in scleroderma, cares for people living with scleroderma, and has led important international guidelines on care for people living with scleroderma.
    • Dr. John Varga: rheumatologist, the John and Nancy Hughes Distinguished Professor of Rheumatology, and director of the Northwestern University Scleroderma Program. He conducts research on inflammation, fibrosis, tissue repair and regeneration in scleroderma and cares for patients with the disease.
    • Dr. Donald Sheppard: clinical infectious diseases specialist. He is the chair of the Department of Microbiology and Immunology at McGill University and director of McGill’s Interdisciplinary Initiative in Infection and Immunity (MI4).
    • Dr. Brett Thombs: psychologist and professor in the faculty of medicine at McGill University. Dr. Thombs founded and is the director of the Scleroderma Patient-centered Intervention Network (SPIN). SPIN develops, tests, and disseminates tools to support people living with scleroderma.
