Scleroderma Squashers

I’m so excited you are visiting my team page for our Stepping Out to Cure Scleroderma walk in Ridgefield Park on June 11!

My name is Claudette Johnson. I’m ten years old and I was diagnosed with scleroderma last summer.

There are so many people who have scleroderma, but no one seems to know about it. When I was first diagnosed, I didn’t have a clue what it was. But Dr. Li at Hackensack Hospital explained that it is an autoimmune disease that started by attacking my left arm. I love to do gymnastics so I was scared that scleroderma would stop me from doing my favorite moves. I soon learned that exercise and even playing piano helps my fingers, wrist, and arm stay strong and healthy. The treatments sometimes hurt but the doctors and nurses make it awesome. They help in all different ways and are really nice.

There is no cure for scleroderma. Please help us raise money to find one! And if you’re free on June 11th, we’d love to have you join our team!

Thank you so much,
Claudette Johnson and her team of Scleroderma Squashers

PS My mom says “don’t forget corporate matches!” whatever that means.
