Help Support Cara in Stepping Out

Hello! My name is Cara Jean Hurst. I am a Scleroderma Warrior. I am 41 years old and have been living with Scleroderma for many years. I was diagnosed with the debilitating disease in 2010. I have had 6 surgeries and 23 esophageal dilations. I had my stomach removed along with most of my esophagus. I no longer can eat "normally". Along with my stomach and esophagus, it has effected my heart causing me to have to get a pacemaker due to it being week and having issues. My liver is severely damaged. My kidneys and bladder have hardened and aren't working right. My lungs both have fibrosis and airway disease. My muscles have been yearning of the bones due to drying up and hardening .it has begun to move to the outer skin. I have regular blood transfusions and infusions.

There is no cure for Scleroderma, only treatments for the symptoms. However the disease is so rare, that most doctors are unsure how to treat patients with Scleroderma.

Throughout all of this...I remain positive and hope for a cure. Never let the disease take over you life. Only God knows what will happen next. Stay positive, have faith and NEVER give up on hope .This walk is to raise money for a cure! Please consider donating to my Stepping Out to Cure Scleroderma Team: Cara's Dream Team!

Thank you all for your support,

Strength for today...Hope for tomorrow
