Angela's All-Stars

Thank you for visiting my Team Fundraising page to support the "Stepping Out to Cure Scleroderma" event!

Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to make a contribution to support my team’s effort to raise funds for people living with scleroderma. To make a donation, click the "Support My Team" button that appears under my photo. Then, just follow the instructions.

Here is my story...

I have Scleroderma. There are many types of this disease, so to be specific, I have Systemic Limited Scleroderma or what is also known as CREST Syndrome. I was officially diagnosed in 2010, but I had symptoms of this disease for many years that went undiagnosed. In 2012, at the age of 37, I was admitted to the hospital in right heart failure due to the disease affecting my heart and lungs. With that hospitalization came another chronic diagnosis of Pulmonary Hypertension which was caused by my scleroderma. I have participated in research studies and have been started on numerous medications in an attempt to slow the progression of the disease, but there is no cure

In just the past month I have experienced a new onset of joint and muscle pain attributed to inflammatory arthritis/rheumatoid arthritis. It has affected my shoulders, hips, and wrist. When this condition flares up, my activities of daily living like getting dressed, walking, and bathing become challenging.

I am not the only one who faces challenges fighting this disease... there are so many others who suffer everyday. Three years ago I was fortunate to have been enrolled in a research drug trial. This new drug helped me tremendously with increasing my exercise tolerance. It is from support from fundraising efforts that not only get the word out about scleroderma, but also help to support research for new therapies and medications. I owe my own progress to this new drug and funded research, but there is much more to be done!

If you would like to join our team at the event and walk to help raise funds, please click on “Join My Team” and follow the directions.
