Stampede Scleroderma - Detroit, Michigan

Rocket Power 3.0

Thank you for visiting my Team Fundraising page to support the "Stepping Out to Cure Scleroderma" event.

I was diagnosed with systemic scleroderma at the age of 18 years old in the fall of 2013. Scleroderma is an autoimmune connective tissue disorder that is generally characterized by hardening of the skin due to overactive cells that create scar tissue where it is not needed. The systemic form often causes scar tissue to accumulate on the vessel walls leading to reduced blood flow and internal organ involvement. There is currently no cure for this disease.

I have been incredibly blessed to have my case currently limited to the extremities. I am able to remain involved in all of my favorite activities. This, however, is not the case for many sufferers. Skin involvement causes the body to become rigid and inflexible while organ involvement causes problems such as pulmonary hypertension, heart failure, or GI tract disorders. With an unknown cause and cure, and variable symptoms in each patient, scleroderma is extremely frustrating.

Please consider joining my team or donating to this amazing foundation! I appreciate everything.
