2017 Stepping Out - Iowa (Heartland Chapter)

Team Taytum

Hello to all my friends and family!!

As most of you know I was diagnosed with Linear Scleroderma in 2009 when I was less than 2 years old. I have been one of the lucky patients and was able to kick Scleroderma in the BUTT!! I received aggressive treatment when I was first diagnosed and have not had to take any medications or treatment for the Scleroderma for a few years now. There is always a chance that it could flare back up again at any time. Some of my friends have not been as lucky as I was.

Since Scleroderma is an autoimmune disease I am more prone to have other autoimmune diseases. In 2015 I was also diagnosed with Hashimoto's thyroiditis and Celiac disease. I went through a lot of tests, and still have more to come. I will probably have to take thyroid medication the rest of my life. I also have to follow a strict gluten free diet; or I have a lot of tummy troubles.

I have kept a smile on my face through all of the problems I have had. My parents are very proud of the way I have handled the lifestyle changes I had to make.

I love to dance and play the piano!!

I would love to have a HUGE team join me at the 2017 wallk this year. The Scleroderma Foundation has brought some of the best friends I have into my life over the last few years. If you can not join me for the walk donations are greatly appreciated. Please help find a cure for my friends and I who have been diagnosed with Scleroderma.

Thank you and much love!!
