At our annual auction in June it was with pleasure that the Washington Evergreen Chapter announced the winner of the 2016 Valerie Yarborough REACHING OUT Award to Chanel White.
Chanel is an extraordinary young woman. Having been diagnosed at the age of 20 with an aggressive form of scleroderma, she now at the age of 24 is a inspiration to millions of followers all over the globe.
Her recent video "Do I Look Sick?’ had 4 million views. As a freelance writer, her articles have been published on The Huffington Post, The Mighty, and XO Jane, where she shares the ups and downs of her journey battling this destructive autoimmune disease.
Chanel has been featured in the Scleroderma Foundation magazine, The Voice, and will again be a presenter at the Foundation's Patient Education Conference this July in New Orleans.
She is an active participant with the Evergreen Chapter, helping with local events, co-leading the Seattle Support Group, and recently has volunteered to be their Social Media Coordinator.
