Dan Sizemore, DDS
Dr. Sizemore spent 12 years in the US Army, stationed in Hawaii, Alabama, Washington DC, Texas and California. Dr. Sizemore finished his Army career in the reserves, retiring as a Lieutenant Colonel.  Chief among his Army Reserve highlights were setting up and working in short term remote medical clinics in Cambodia, Thailand, Kazakhstan, and Fiji; living and working among the local population.Concurrent with the time in the Army Reserve Dr. Sizemore built a family oriented, private practice in San Dimas California which he lovingly maintained for 20 years. After selling his practice, Dr. Sizemore continued his passion for learning and was able to pursue his interest in medicine by becoming a resident USC Dental School’s master degree program in oral facial pain and medicine.

Scleroderma: Keeping a Healthy Mind

Ginny Maril, Phd

Speaker Bio:

Ginny Maril, PhDGinny Maril, Ph.D. is a licensed psychologist residing in Los Angeles, California.  She is trained as a generalist who specializes in working with people living with chronic illness and their caregivers.  She currently consults for the Scleroderma Foundation and the Pulmonary Hypertension Association.  In addition to treating patients with chronic illness, Dr. Maril also focuses on anxiety disorders, trauma recovery, and depression.  She currently serves as the Director of Training at California Lutheran University’s Student Counseling Services.  Dr. Maril completed her Bachelor of Arts and Master of Psychology degrees at the University of Dallas.  She attended Texas Woman's University where she earned her Doctor of Philosophy from the APA-accredited Counseling Psychology program.  She completed an APA-accredited pre-doctoral internship at Texas Woman's University Counseling Center and her post-doctoral fellowship at California Lutheran University.  Dr. Maril's professional and research interests include living with chronic illness, caregiver stress, traumatic stress, existential theory, and social justice.

Dr. Arnold Ceponis, MD, PhD is a clinical rheumatologist, Assistant Clinical Professor, and Rheumatology Fellowship Program Director at the Division of Rheumatology, Allergy and Immunology Faculty at the University of California San Diego (UCSD) School of Medicine. Dr. Ceponis has a diverse clinical and science background, which includes his original MD, PhD training in immunopathology of rheumatic diseases in Europe, and 5 years’ immunology and drug discovery research experience at Johnson& Johnson, Research and Development Institute in USA, CA, La Jolla, followed by Rheumatology Clinical Fellowship at UCSD. Besides the clinical rheumatology and direct patient care, Dr. Ceponis expertise and research include application of musculoskeletal ultrasound and other imaging modalities in rheumatology clinical practice, clinical studies, as well as translational research.

Philip Clements, MD, Professor Emeritus, Division of Rheumatology, Dept of Medicine, David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA. Dr. Clements is a rheumatologist that has devoted most of his 50-year career to the care and management of patients with systemic sclerosis (scleroderma) Dr. Clements has participated in the development, conduct and analysis of many clinical studies and trials in scleroderma and as a result of his devotion to his clinical practice, research, authorship, speaking engagements and conferences, has advanced the understanding of this very complex disease both professionally and all those who are touched by it personally.
