The Oregon Chapter of the Scleroderma Foundation invites you to attend the 16th Annual Cheri Woo Scleroderma Education Seminar!

When:  Saturday, March 11, 2017,  10am - 3pm

This free annual event always features presentations aimed at educating scleroderma patients and family about the various aspects of living with scleroderma.  This year, we are so pleased with the lineup of speakers that we’d also like to extend the invitation to any medical professionals that may be interested in meeting a room full of scleroderma patients and learning from some true experts in the field.

We are so excited to present to you the following guest speakers:

Dr. Francesco Boin


Dr. Francesco Boin, M.D.
, is a rheumatologist and the Director of the Scleroderma Clinic at the University of California San Francisco.  He is a physician-scientist with long time experience in scleroderma and its complications.

Formerly with the Mayo Clinic and Johns Hopkins, Dr. Boin has been the principal investigator in many studies that apply basic research technology directly to study patients’ clinical disease.

Dr. Boin will be speaking about recent developments in research and treatments in the scleroderma world.

 

Dr. Anna Haemel


Dr. Anna Haemel, M.D.
, is a dermatologist with the Scleroderma Clinic at the University of California San Francisco.  She treats patients with all types of skin disease, including those with underlying systemic disease, such as rheumatologic conditions and inflammatory bowel disease.

She is a member of numerous professional organizations, including the American College of Physicians, Medical Dermatology Society and Dermatology Foundation.

Dr. Haemel will be discussing calcinosis and other skin conditions associated with systemic scleroderma.

 

Dr. Richard BurtDr. Richard Burt, M.D., is the Chief of the Division of Immunotherapy and Autoimmune Diseases (DIAD) in the Department of Medicine, and a Professor of Medicine at Northwestern University.  

The DIAD is the only center in the world devoted to a unique area of treatment and research utilizing stem cell transplantation in clinical trials for autoimmune and vascular diseases. DIAD pioneered and performed America’s first hematopoietic stem cell transplants to treat many autoimmune diseases, including systemic scleroderma.

Dr. Burt will be discussing hematopoietic stem cell transplants as treatment for scleroderma.

   10am:   Seminar will start promptly.  Please arrive BEFORE 10am to check in!
   12:30pm:  Lunch (provided) is served!
   3pm:    Seminar will conclude.

The Cheri Woo Scleroderma Education Seminar is a free event, but a $10 donation would be greatly appreciated!

Our 2017 Walk committee is in need of an Advertising/Promotion leader!  

This person would be responsible for arranging promotion of our upcoming walk - flyers, TV/radio, newspaper, online ads, etc.  (There are other volunteers that will help do the work, but we need someone to lead the effort!)  If you think you might be interested, or if you want more information, please email us at the email address below!
