The Scleroderma Foundation Oregon Chapter invites you to attend the 18th Annual Cheri Woo Scleroderma Education Seminar!

            Event will start at 10am - please arrive with time to check in and take a seat.
            Check-in begins at 9am.  A light breakfast and sandwich lunch are provided.


This annual event always features presentations aimed at educating scleroderma patients and family about the various aspects of living with scleroderma.  Family, caregivers, and all medical professionals are always welcome to attend! 

Speakers for this year's seminar:

Dr. Furst

Dr. Daniel Furst, MD, MACR is internationally known for his expertise in the research and treatment of scleroderma. He has specialized in studying how medications react in the body to treat rheumatic diseases, and is a member, master, and Fellow in the American College of Rheumatology.  He has written hundreds of peer-reviewed research articles and edited 17 books, including a textbook on scleroderma.

Dr. Furst will be presenting twice at this event, on The Place of Biologics in Treating Scleroderma, and The Gastrointestinal Tract in Scleroderma:  What Happens and What to Do About It.


 Elaine Furst

Elaine Furst, R.N., B.S.N., M.A., is a registered nurse and a nurse-educator. She has taught in four university schools of nursing, worked as a staff and head nurse at Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore and administered a psychiatric hospital and program for mentally ill teenagers in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.  She has given many workshops and lectures on how scleroderma affects people, both patients and their loved ones, and has led support groups for people affected by scleroderma.

Elaine will be presenting on the topic of Coping With a Chronic Disease.

Nancy Causton

Nancy Causton, PT, MSPT is a physical therapist practicing at Impact Physical Therapy in Hillsboro, Oregon.  Her PT career includes transplant medicine and cardiac rehab at OHSU as well as sports medicine and orthopedics. She has a special interest in postural health, treatment of hip disorders and gait analysis.  Nancy also works as a personal trainer and fitness instructor specializing in fitness for medically complex clients. 

Nancy will be presenting on the topic of Understanding the Benefits of Physical Therapy and How to Access Services.
