Holiday Travel with Chronic Illness

The physical demands of travel are taxing. The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention offer some guidelines for individuals living with chronic illness to follow as they make travel arrangements, including:

1. Ensure that your chronic illness is well-controlled before traveling

2. Keep a letter with you at all times from your doctor about your condition, medications and other important information

3. Consider wearing a medical alert bracelet or necklace to notify emergency responders of your condition in case you are unable to communicate
