CASE STUDY #2

Richard Silver, M.D., Professor, Medical University of South CarolinaRichard Silver, M.D., Professor, Medical University of South Carolina. The Scleroderma Foundation research grant program has provided valuable seed money to investigators who, otherwise, might not have been able to obtain funding to sustain their work. In this way, the Scleroderma Foundation has been instrumental in nurturing the career of many investigators including me. The Foundation's investment has paid dividends not only by improving our knowledge of scleroderma's pathogenesis, but also by helping researchers to build their cases for larger NIH funding.

One day this should translate into rational and effective treatments for patients.
