People with Scleroderma Needed for Research Study on Challenges to Keep Working

Researchers from the University of New Mexico are seeking participants for a study to identify challenges and adaptations made by persons with scleroderma to continue working. To be included participants must:

  • be a resident of the United States,
  • diagnosed with scleroderma (been diagnosed a minimum of 5 years with limited scleroderma or 2 years with diffuse scleroderma),
  • have a telephone,
  • be able to communicate in English,
  • be working more than 8 hours each week, and
  • have self-perceived difficulty working due to symptoms from scleroderma

The study involves completing a packet of questionnaires about work problems and symptoms of scleroderma and, being interviewed about how scleroderma affects the specific parts of the job. This study was approved by the UNM Human Research Review Committee (HRRC#08-356).
