Special Alert - Ventavis Recall
On May 16, Actelion, the manufacturer of Ventavis, issued a voluntary recall of Ventavis Lots #63227A, #63228A, #63230A, #63231A, and #63232A. Recently, Accredo received notification from several patients that some of the glass ampules of Ventavis they received were either empty or partially filled with drug. The recall is being initiated to address the possibility of a manufacturing defect in the glass ampules.
According to Actelion, this potential manufacturing defect may cause patients to receive less medicine than prescribed, but there is no evidence of a quality issue associated with the drug solution itself.
