Rain Slows Hamilton’s Bristol Charge

Ten more minutes without rain may have been the difference in Bobby Hamilton, Jr. finishing the Sharpie Mini 300 in 7th place versus 17th. With four fresh tires on his Curly's BBQ Ford Fusion, Hamilton was ready to charge to the front when the rain showers hit the half-mile Bristol Motorspeedway, ending a race whose start had been delayed by nearly two hours.

"I’m proud of the effort of the Curly's Team today. We will take this finish and head to my home track, Nashville Superspeedway, next Saturday." Clint Bowyer won the race, earning his first victory of the season.

During the rain delay, Hamilton was interviewed by ABC Television for nearly five minutes, giving his insights of both the NASCAR Sprint Cup and Nationwide Series. The talented 30-year-old Tennessee native brings a wealth of stock car experience and passion for the sport to Team Rensi Motorsports. Bobby has recorded 305 starts in the Sprint Cup Series, Nationwide Series, and Craftsman Truck Series combined.

Bobby was born into the sport of NASCAR as the son of the late Bobby Hamilton, Sr, a racing legend and the 2004 Craftsman Truck Series Champion. At the age of 15, Bobby came home to find a gift from his father in driveway, a Ford Pinto. Together they turned the Pinto into a racecar and Bobby began to race on the weekends at local tracks. From that point forward, Bobby began to climb the racing ladder.

Bobby’s next race is The Pepsi 300 on Saturday, March 22 at the Nashville Superspeedway.
