Bobby Hamilton Jr. and the Team Rensi Motorsports/Smithfield #25 Ford Fusion move on to Bristol, Tennessee Friday evening, August 22nd for the Food City 250.

Bristol Motor Speedway is so short that speeds here are far lower than is typical on most NASCAR oval tracks, but very fast compared to other short tracks due to the high banking, making for a considerable amount of "swapping paint."  Also the initial starting grid of 43 vehicles extends almost halfway around the track, meaning that the slower-qualifying cars begin the race almost half a lap down.

Bobby Hamilton, Jr. and Team Rensi Motorsports will also play host to well known cooking sensation Paula Deen this coming weekend.  Deen, a spokesperson for Smithfield Foods, the #25 car’s primary sponsor, will also serve as the Grand Marshal of the Food City 250 Friday night.  Her husband Michael Groover will drop the green flag on the 43 car field as well!

“We are so excited to host Paula Deen this weekend in Bristol,” said Team Rensi Motorsports Co-owner Gary Weisbaum.  “It’s been an honor to have been associated with Smithfield Foods for the last four years and we can’t wait for Paula and Michael to arrive at the track and share in the motorsports’ experience.  We couldn’t have found a better race to bring her to than the Food City 250 at Bristol Motor Speedway.”  The race promises to draw a crowd in excess of 100,000 fans, the 19th consecutive time this has happened in a Nationwide Series event at Bristol.

“We enjoy a wonderful relationship with Ms. Deen’s sponsor, Smithfield, said Steven C. Smith, Food City president and chief executive officer, “and had the privilege of hosting her during our 2006 Food City Food Show in Knoxville, Tenn.  The response was so overwhelming that the facility literally could not contain the crowd. We’re thrilled to have Ms. Deen and her husband, Michael serve as Grand Marshal and Honorary Starter of the Food City 250.  It’s a winning combination for our company and a credit to our region.”
Be sure to watch Paula, Bobby and the entire Rensi Motorsports/Smithfield team on Friday, August 22 as they compete in the Food City 250.  All the action begins on ESPN2 at 7:30 p.m., EST.  Check your local listings for the time in your area.
