Bobby Hamilton Jr. Back at His Home Track
Bobby and Team Rensi Motorsports move on to the Nashville Superspeedway for the Federated Auto Parts 300 Presented by Dollar General.
Bobby, a Tennessee native, considers the Nashville Superspeedway his home track. Built in 2000, it is one of only three concrete tracks on the NASCAR circuit. The pavement, consisting of 7,500 cubic yards of concrete, was placed full-width for the entire length of the track by a concrete paving machine that was specially constructed for this project. The first Busch Series race was held in April 2001 with Greg Biffle winning, and later that year the Craftsman Truck Series made its debut at the 1.333-mile track when Scott Riggs won in August.
Asked if he enjoyed racing at Nashville, Hamilton responded, “Yeah, anytime you’re at home, no matter where you wind up, it’s easy. It’s easy for the family in traveling, and for you staying in your own bed. You’re surrounded by family and friends when normally you’re not.”
You can catch the Federated Auto Parts 300 this coming Saturday, June 7th on ESPN2 at 7:00 p.m. Check local listings for the time in your area. |
