Bobby Hamilton, Jr. Spins in Memphis
Bobby Hamilton, Jr. and the Team Rensi Motorsports/Eckrich #25 Ford Fusion qualified 25th at the Memphis Motorsports Park on Saturday. Unfortunately, Bobby was involved in a last lap incident with Landon Cassill and finished a disappointing 21st.
Cassill hit Bobby Hamilton, Jr. from behind on the final lap, putting Hamilton, Jr. into a spin. The incident led to a post-race altercation on pit road as Hamilton, Jr. got out of his car and then approached Cassill, who was still in his car. Hamilton, Jr. had a heated discussion with the rookie driver before a NASCAR official separated them. Hamilton, Jr. was summoned to the NASCAR hauler afterwards.
"I went over to make sure he was okay and his throttle wasn't hanging," Hamilton, Jr. said. "I was cool with it."
The incident between Cassill and Hamilton, Jr. at Memphis is not the first time the two have tangled this season. "We had an incident at Loudon, and Hamilton, Jr. said on the radio that I didn't do that on purpose, and there was no reason for me to retaliate," Cassill said. "It's just hard racing here, and I'm sorry it was him."
Carl Edwards kept his Nationwide Series title defense hopes alive Saturday by winning the Kroger on Track for the Cure 250 with a dominating performance. Edwards led 185 of 253 laps and held off David Reutimann in a green-white-checkered finish.
The next race is the O’Reilly Challenge on Saturday, November 1 at the Texas Motor Speedway. You can catch all the action at 3 p.m. on ESPN2. Check the local listings for the time in your area. |
