Scleroderma Research Proposals to
be Reviewed Next Saturday
Doctors, researchers and Scleroderma Foundation staff
members will descend on Boston next Saturday to review
34 research grant applications for 2008.
The Foundation’s peer review program is based
on the National Institutes of Health peer review process.
In this process, grant applications are studied, reviewed,
critiqued, and scored according to a standard scoring
system by experts in that area of research.
Peer reviewers are looking for scientific and technical
merit. Those applications garnering the highest scores
and meeting Foundation guidelines are awarded funding.
Award winners will be categorized into two classifications:
new investigator and established investigator.
Recipients will be announced on the Foundation Web
site and via a press release in early January. It is
expected that $1 million in grants will be awarded.
Since the introduction of the program, 173 grants totaling
$12.7 million have been funded. |
