Roster Set for Scleroderma Foundation Comedy Benefit
Nine comedians, including several who have appeared
on "The Tonight Show with Jay Leno" and "Late
Night With David Letterman," are scheduled to take
the mike at the first "Laughs, Love and Lucien:
A Night of Comedy to Benefit the Scleroderma Foundation."
The event is scheduled for Wednesday, May 9, at the
famed Comic Strip Live, 1568 Second Avenue, in New York
City.
Among the comedians scheduled to perform is Vanessa
Hollingshead, widow of the late Lucien Hold, the
man who we are honoring and the person who launched
the careers of many of today’s top comics, including
Eddie Murphy, Adam Sandler and Ray Romano. Hollingshead
(www.myspace.com/vhead)
has performed live on Comedy Central and in June she
will appear on the Oxygen Network’s 25 of the
"Most Funniest Women Alive." Her DVD, an "American
Anglomaniac," will also be available then.
“Lucien would have been very proud to know that
money is being raised to help those like him who had
the disease,” she said. “Whatever we can
to do spread awareness and raise money, I’m all
for it.” (Lucien died from scleroderma in 2004).
Also scheduled to participate is veteran comedian Barry
Weintraub, who will serve as emcee; Kerri Louise,
www.kerrilouise.com,
who has performed in comedy clubs and has TV credits
including "The Apprentice," "The View,"
and "20/20," and her comedian/husband Tom
Cotter (http://tomcotter.com),
who has television appearances on "The Tonight
Show" and the "Late, Late Show with Craig
Kilborn."
Rob Magnotti, (www.robmagnotti.com)
a comedian/impressionist with credits including "Late
Night with Conan O’Brien," and the movie
"A Beautiful Mind," has been booked, as has
Ross Bennett (www.rossbennettcomic.com),
a longtime comedian who knew Lucien very well. Pete
Correale, who has appeared on the "Late Show
with David Letterman" and the "Tonight Show
with Jay Leno," has also been booked. Pete also
serves as a sidekick on Jim Breuer’s radio program
on Sirius Radio.
Vic Henley (www.comedycontact.com/henley.html)
has appeared on the Letterman show, and just about every
stand-up comedy show on television. As previously mentioned,
Gary Gulman, www.garygulman.com
will perform. Gulman has performed on both "Late
Night with David Letterman" and "The Tonight
Show with Jay Leno."
