Foundation Race Car Partner David
Gilliland Has Hot Week
David Gilliland, the racecar driver who will be behind
the wheel of a vehicle co-sponsored by the Scleroderma
Foundation, is coming off a hot week of racing. First
of all, Gilliland on Feb. 10 finished second in the
Budweiser Shootout. Two days later, he garnered the
much-sought-after pole position for the most prestigious
event in racing, Sunday’s legendary Daytona 500.
Gilliland earned the honor with the fastest qualifying
speed.
Though he was not driving the vehicle he will use
in the Busch Series of which the Foundation is an associate
sponsor, Gilliland’s early-season success could
be an indication of a successful year. He is known as
an aggressive driver who is willing to take a risk to
win a race.
He will compete in both the Nextel Cup and Busch Series
events at Daytona this weekend. The Busch race, the
Orbitz 300, will be held tomorrow at noon and will be
televised on ESPN 2. Look for the Foundation logo on
the B posts located on the doors of the vehicle, the
No. 25 Ford Fusion. The Daytona 500 will be held Sunday
at 2, on Fox. (The Foundation does not sponsor the Nextel
Cup vehicle).
The Ford racecar is owned by TeamRensi, www.teamrensimotorsports.com.
The Foundation’s logo and a link to our Web site
is featured on the TeamRensi site.
