Jeff Shmase Is the New Communications Manager at the Foundation

Jeff Shmase

In this capacity, Jeff is responsible for promoting and publicizing the Foundation’s three-fold mission of support, education and research through the electronic and print media. He accomplishes this task by writing and distributing press releases, pitching story ideas, and serving as the initial point of contact for media inquiries. Jeff also writes for the Foundation’s website, its annual report, brochures and other printed materials emanating from the National office. Lastly, he serves as a resource/consultant for chapter and support groups who require media training.

Jeff has a background in both non-profit and for-profit organizations. His experience in the non-profit sector includes a position as the director of public relations and publications at a community hospital, and working as a high school guidance counselor in two public schools. He also worked in public relations in an advertising agency, promoting a physicians’ practice as well as medical device manufacturers.

Jeff is a graduate of both Boston College and Salem State College. He is married, and the father of two children, Hannah, 12, and Benjamin, 8.
