Scleroderma Foundation Featured in
Prestigious "New York Times"
The Foundation, a scleroderma patient, and physicians
were featured prominently in the high-profile "New
York Times" on August 8. The article, “New
Treatments Offer Hope in the Fight Against a Cruel Skin-Hardening
Ailment," raised awareness of the disease by profiling
a Colorado patient afflicted with systemic scleroderma.
Author Francine Parnes wrote of the new treatments
available to combat the disease, but cited the difficulty
patients have in paying for these costly alternatives,
such as stem cell transplantation. Former Foundation
Communications Manager Chris Underation was quoted in
the story, as were some of the top scleroderma experts
in the United States.
