National Conference 2007: Site Selected
The Scleroderma Foundation’s 2007 National Conference
will be held at the Doubletree
Inn in historic Philadelphia the weekend of July
20–22, 2007.
Philadelphia has a great deal to offer conference attendees.
For American history buffs, the city is home to Independence
Hall, site of the signing of both the Declaration of
Independence and the U.S. Constitution; the National
Constitution Center, the only museum exclusively dedicated
to everything related to the Constitution; and Liberty
Bell Center, home of the Liberty Bell.
Art aficionados will enjoy the Philadelphia Museum
of Art, which houses one of America’s top art
collections.
Attention shoppers: the King of Prussia Mall is the
largest mall on the East Coast, with more than 400 specialty
shops and 40 eateries. Oh by the way, clothing is tax
free in Pennsylvania.
What’s a trip to Philadelphia without visiting
the Rocky statue, Philadelphia’s fictional boxer
who went on to become heavyweight boxing champion—at
least on film. If food is your passion, Philadelphia
is known for its cheese steak hoagies, but it is also
home to the Reading Terminal Market, America’s
oldest farmer’s market.
The city is flush with cobblestone streets, and architectural
wonders. It is a vibrant city with sports, culture and
nightlife.
Philadelphia’s central location makes it ideal
to take trips to nearby sites. There is Lancaster County
and the Amish country; the Jersey shore and its miles
of coastal beaches; Atlantic City and its casinos and
shows; New York City, site of many of America’s
most famous attractions; and Washington, D.C., the nation’s
capital and home to many monuments, museums and historic
sites.
