Today is June 2—the second day of Scleroderma
Awareness month. Though the month has just started,
we’ve already received reports of awareness-related
activities taking place throughout the country.
Awareness-raising events actually started on May 26
as the Delaware Valley Chapter and Juliette Rizzo were
briefly interviewed by Al Roker on the "Today"
show. This interview resulted in people from 26 states
learning about the work of the Foundation.

Chapter Receives a Mention on the CBS "Early
Show."

The CBS "Early Show" got in on things this
morning, as Dave Price spoke to people from the Tri-State
Chapter involved in the Manhattan "Stepping Out
to Cure Scleroderma" walk and encouraged people
to educate themselves about our disease.
In addition, we’ve learned the Los Angeles County
Board of Supervisors will do a special event this week
declaring June Scleroderma Awareness Month. This event
will feature the Southern California Chapter and its
"Stepping Out" sponsor, the Wescom Credit
Union.
Gov. Mark Sanford of South Carolina also issued a
statewide proclamation in which he asked his citizens
to take part in scleroderma awareness month and recognize
the need for continued research.
We’ve also heard from newspapers and television
stations around the nation who are interested in writing
about scleroderma.
