Sherlyn Delaney Roberts Will Speak at National Gala
in Las Vegas
We are pleased to announce that Sherlyn Delaney Roberts
has agreed to speak at our National Gala in Las Vegas
next month.
Roberts, who lives in Kansas, will share her inspirational
story of recovery from diffuse systemic scleroderma
following an autologous stem cell transplant under the
care of Thomas Medsger, M.D., a member of the Foundation’s
Medical Advisory Board. Roberts, who had the operation
last year, reports she is doing very well. Her story
will be profiled, by the way, in an upcoming edition
of “The Voice.”
Sherlyn has made it one of her life’s missions
to spread awareness of scleroderma, and the need for
insurance companies to fund “experimental”
procedures. She is a vocal advocate of the Foundation
and her story is very compelling.
For those of you interested in hearing Sherlyn’s
story, tickets to the Gala are still available. Please
contact Pam O’Meara, Nevada Chapter, at 702 646-9496
or Frannie Waldron, Scleroderma Foundation, at 800-722-4673.
The gala will be held Saturday, Oct. 14, at the Four
Seasons Hotel. It will begin at 6 p.m. with a cocktail
hour and an auction led by “The Bachelor”
host Chris Harrison, followed by dinner, awards and
entertainment. Comedienne Carol Siskind will serve as
emcee, and comedian George Wallace and singer/pianist
Frankie Scinta will also perform.
Special honorees this year include Senator Harry Reid,
a Democrat from Nevada, Foundation spokesperson and
entertainer Jason Alexander, Maureen Mayes, M.D., and
Foundation board member and former Nevada Chapter President
Cindy Nolen. |
