Gala Just Got Rosier
Chris Harrison, host of the popular ABC reality romance
show “The Bachelor,” will join us as the
auctioneer for the National Gala, to be held Saturday,
Oct. 14, at the luxurious Four Seasons Hotel in Las
Vegas. Harrison has hosted “The Bachelor”
since 2002. Since 1999, he also has served as host of
“Designers Challenge,”televised on Home
and Garden Television (HGTV).
Harrison is connected to scleroderma through his wife
Gwen, whose mother died of the disease. Two years ago,
Chris appeared on the Game Show Network’s “Celebrity
Blackjack” and the show made a $10,000 donation
to the Foundation for Chris' participation.
“The Bachelor” premieres on Monday, Oct.
2, on ABC. Harrison’s catchphrase of “Ladies,
this is the final rose tonight,” has become somewhat
of a staple in American pop culture.
The Gala will honor four individuals who have made
a significant contribution toward carrying out the Foundation’s
mission and finding a cure for the disease. The honorees
are: Sen. Harry Reid, (D-NV), Foundation spokesperson
and entertainer Jason Alexander, scleroderma physician/researcher/author
Maureen Mayes, M.D., and Cindy Nolen, former Nevada
chapter president and current Foundation board member.
Nolen has lived with scleroderma since 1995.

comedian George Wallace and Frankie Scinta will provide
the entertainment. The Gala begins at 6 p.m. with a
cocktail hour and the auction, followed by dinner, entertainment
