Rare Chinese Art Exhibit In Albany,
New York Until May 24
A
selection of 41 paintings owned by the Dai family—one
of the more well-known collections of historic Chinese
paintings—is being shown now through Wednesday,
May 24 in the Key Cultural Center at the Albany Institute
of History & Art.
This exhibit actually came about due to a diagnosis
of scleroderma given to one of the Dai family. Upon
realizing they had a serious disease, the family was
inspired to share their art collection with the public.
These pieces of art were collected by four generations
of the Dai family. The collection includes work by Zhang
Daqian (known as China’s Picasso) and many other
famous Chinese artists. The collection is believed to
be worth $15 million.
