"Public Health and Preventive Screening’s – We Still Have to Do Them"
By Susan A. Nyanzi, DrPH, MPH, CHES, ACSM – About Susan Nyanzi
What are preventive screenings? Do they really apply to scleroderma? "I see my doctor regularly anyway, so I don’t need them.”
Based on national and international studies, the U.S. Surgeon General together with other national organizations have developed a set of preventive care guidelines that are strongly recommended to improve the health of the nation. Although developed for the general public, they are even more important in scleroderma.
The aim of Public Health is to improve the health of a community through preventive measures. Preventive care looks at the person as a whole, integrating health education, nutrition, physical activity, and stress management so as to lead a better quality of life. In this workshop you learn what the guidelines are, why they are especially important in scleroderma, and how to implement them.
