A Reel Victory for Scleroderma!

Southern California Chapter's Executive Director, Brian Ross Adams, recently put together a special video for the "Key to a Cure" Gala celebrating Cynthia Cervantes testimony before Congress in March. The video chronicles Cynthia's journey into the media spotlight as a local and national advocate for scleroderma awareness and research. Highlights of Cynthia's media interviews, photos, and candid testimony on Capital Hill are included throughout the video, showcasing her tremendous strength and continued hopes of finding a cure.

Gilead Announces Two-Year Clinical Data for Letairis(R) (ambrisentan) for the Treatment of Pulmonary Arterial Hypertension (WHO Group 1)

Gilead Sciences, Inc. (Nasdaq:GILD) announced results of a two-year (104-week), open-label, uncontrolled, extension study (ARIES-E) of Letairis(R) in patients with pulmonary arterial hypertension (PAH) (WHO Group 1). Data from this study were presented today at CHEST 2008, the annual meeting of the American College of Chest Physicians, taking place in Philadelphia, October 25–30.

Tadalafil Reduces Raynaud's Episodes in Patients With Scleroderma

In the first randomized controlled trial of its kind, the drug tadalafil reduced the duration and frequency of secondary Raynaud's phenomenon episodes in patients with scleroderma and mixed connective-tissue disease. It also decreased the incidence of ischemic ulcers when used with other treatments, according to research presented here at the American College of Rheumatology 2008 Annual Scientific Meeting.
