2008 American College of Rheumatology Annual Conference

This past weekend, staff members from the Scleroderma Foundation's national office served as exhibitors at this year's American College of Rheumatology (ACR) Conference held in San Francisco, California. Over 18,000 attendees, many of whom were medical professionals, arrived at the conference eager to learn and discuss new information in the rheumatology field.

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration today sent Warning Letters to Bayer HealthCare concerning two unlawful, over-the-counter (OTC) aspirin products — Bayer Women's Low Dose Aspirin + Calcium (Bayer Women's) and Bayer Aspirin with Heart Advantage (Bayer Heart Advantage).

Systemic Sclerosis Entails Unique Cardiac Risks

PARIS — Periodic cardiac evaluations should now be a routine part of the management of all patients with systemic sclerosis, beginning “from the first day of the disease.” Cardiac problems in patients with systemic sclerosis (Ssc) were traditionally thought to occur mainly in those with the diffuse subtype of disease, not the limited cutaneous subtype. But with the use of contemporary cardiac evaluation tools, including tissue Doppler echocardiography, myocardial scintigraphy, and cardiac MRI, it has become apparent that coronary lesions occur very early in the course of both subtypes—and are far more prevalent than previously realized, Dr. André Kahan said at the annual European Congress of Rheumatology.

After a disappointing 21st place at Memphis, Bobby and the Team Rensi Motorsports Team hope that they can avoid Landon Cassill and another disappointing finish at the O’Reilly Challenge in Fort Worth. Bobby and the No. 5 car clashed again ruining what promised to be a good run for Bobby at the Kroger On Track For the Cure 250 in Memphis.

The next race is the O’Reilly Challenge on Saturday, November 1 at the Texas Motor Speedway. You can catch all the action at 3 p.m. on ESPN2. Check the local listings for the time in your area.
