Although localized and systemic sclerodermas are very different diseases, living with a child who has either disease represents a special set of problems. Indeed the issues faced by the parents of children with most chronic diseases are the same.

Tissue-Growth Gene Tied to Scleroderma
Finding is a step towards treating the autoimmune disorder

(HealthDay News)—New research suggests a gene governing the growth of connective tissue is key to scleroderma, an autoimmune disease in which the body builds up thick layers of scar tissue in the skin and around internal organs.

Our national advocacy program is up and running. We’re excited to be working with the Health and Medicine Counsel of Washington to raise awareness of scleroderma and increase funding for scleroderma research through the NIH, CDC, FDA, and other government entities.
