Many
of you took the time to write to us to provide feedback about
the "Get Connected" Bulletin Board. Your feedback
has been very positive, but we heard more than once that you
felt your needs could be better served by an open format that
allowed all visitors to view responses to posts. For this
reason, we have decided to change the original format and
move from a private bulletin board to a public message board. |

Your
lungs transfer the oxygen you inhale to your blood, and they
remove from your blood carbon dioxide, which you exhale. Damage
to various structures in your lungs can affect how well you
breathe or how efficiently the organs exchange oxygen and
carbon dioxide.
Some medications or breathing-assistance devices may help
improve the function of your lungs. When these therapies are
no longer beneficial or poor lung function is life-threatening,
lung transplantation may be an option. Some of the diseases
treated with transplantation include pulmonary hypertension,
emphysema, pulmonary fibrosis, and sarcoidosis.

Recognize
a Volunteer
At
every level—from local gatherings to national initiatives—we
rely on people who give generously of their time and talent.
April
23–29 is National Volunteer Week. During this week,
the Foundation would like to take the time to recognize the
people who help you carry out our three-fold mission of support,
education and research.
Please
take the time to recognize as many volunteers as you’d
like—and feel free to tell us something special about
this person or the work they do so well.
There
is no limit to the number of people you may recognize. Just
click
here to get started. The form is simple and only takes
a minute or two to complete.
Thanks!
Your work makes it all possible.
