The ability to effectively chew nutritious and appealing food is vital to a healthy body. Any process that compromises this simple function can result in poor nutrition and a reduced ability to resist opportunistic diseases.

Scleroderma can compromise oral and dental health in a number of ways. In this article, we will look at some of the more common dental problems complicated by scleroderma and I will suggest some ways you can prevent or manage them.

Racing For Life Lands at Bike Week 2006 in Daytona Beach this Weekend

After a weeklong journey that started Monday in California, the Racing For Life team finds itself visiting with the Scleroderma Foundation Support Groups in Houston, Texas and Baton Rouge, Louisiana today.

The 9th International Workshop on Scleroderma Research to be held August 5–9, 2006 in Boston, Mass.

The Workshop focuses on research related to the pathogenesis of scleroderma and brings together scientists and clinical investigators to promote scientific exchange in relevant cell and molecular biology disciplines, to review clinical trials and methodology, and to create a strong bridge from bench to bedside.

This Workshop is co-chaired by the Boston University School of Medicine and the Scleroderma Research Unit at the Royal Free Hospital in London, UK. Held biennially, the last meeting was held in Cambridge, UK in 2004.

FDA Approves Immediate-Release Proton Pump Inhibitor

On February 27, Santarus, Inc. announced that the FDA approved its new drug application for Zegerid (omeprazole/sodium bicarbonate) capsules, an immediate-release proton pump inhibitor (PPI). Zegerid capsules were approved for all of the indications the company was seeking.
