ABSTRACT
Many effective treatments for scleroderma have emerged in recent years, including bosentan, an endothelin receptor antagonist, and epoprostenol, a prostacyclin, both of which target vasoconstriction. Cyclophosphamide may soon be proven effective against interstitial lung disease.

One week ago in this space, Donna Kohli told you of her decision to step down as President of the Scleroderma Foundation. Her five years at the helm saw many major advances in the life of our organization and she will be greatly missed.

Novartis to Develop Kyorin's Immunosuppressant Drug

Kyorin Pharmaceutical has granted a global license to Novartis to develop and market its immunosuppressant drug KRP-203, in an effort to speed up the launch of the drug. Under the agreement, Novartis will have an exclusive license to develop and sell the drug worldwide for use in treating organ transplant patients. The drug is still at the preclinical stage in Japan.

Novartis will also have the exclusive right to develop and sell the drug for use in treating sufferers of autoimmune and other diseases everywhere except Japan, South Korea, China, and Taiwan.

Scleroderma Foundation Teams Up with the "Nitro Tire Racing For Life" Off Road Motorcycle Team to Raise Funds and Awareness for the Scleroderma Foundation and Lance Armstrong Foundation

Starting Monday, Feb. 27, an 11 city cross-country trek to benefit the Scleroderma and Lance Armstrong foundations begins in Ocotillo Wells, Calif.

The "Nitro Tire Racing For Life" off road motorcycle team will make stops in several places where the Scleroderma Foundation has chapters and support groups. Each stop will be an awareness raising opportunity, with Foundation members and "Racing For Life" providing information to people about the cause.
