The Dates Are Set for the 2006 National Conference and Leadership Conference

In 2006, we’re planning something a little different for you at our National Conference, hosted by the Minnesota Chapter.

One of the differences is the date. This year’s National Conference will be held Saturday, July 29 and Sunday, July 30. The location will be the Sheraton Bloomington Hotel in Minneapolis.

Saint Raphael’s Performs Minimally Invasive Esophageal Cancer Procedure that Provides Benefits for Some Scleroderma Patients

The Hospital of Saint Raphael , New Haven, Conn.

NEW HAVEN, Conn. – The Hospital of Saint Raphael recently became one of the first medical centers in New England to successfully perform a new procedure, Minimally Invasive Esophagectomy (MIE), to treat esophageal cancer. Surgeons report that with this procedure—which is less invasive than conventional esophagectomy—patients have better outcomes and shorter recovery times. MIE can also be used to treat other esophageal disorders, including Barrett’s esophagus, scleroderma, or achalasia.

Medicare and Medicaid

Often there is some confusion between Medicare and Medicaid, what each is and what each is for. In this eLetter we’re happy to provide a handbook resource that describes the difference between these two programs and how one determines whether they are eligible for Medicaid benefits.

This handbook is in PDF format. If you don't have Acrobat Reader, download it FREE.
