Volunteers Needed

 

Scleroderma Foundation of Greater Washington D.C needs your help in support of our activities. There are plenty of jobs available, which means we need lots of volunteers! No experience needed. Lots of fun and great co-workers.

Media Contact
Book Stall Managers

SFGW Volunteer: Media Contact

Responsibilities: Volunteer is responsible for sending meeting announcements to media contacts.

Duties:

  1. Create announcement according to provided template.
  2. Send announcements to calendar listing sections of area newspapers.
  3. Work with volunteer contact to compile contact directory of local media.

Materials: Volunteer will be provided with meeting dates so that announcements can be mailed on a timely basis (4 times a year). Volunteer is also provided with sample of announcement to send to area media. Volunteer is supplied with stationary and reimbursed for postage.

SFGW Volunteer: Information Distributors

Responsibilities: Volunteers will keep area physicians up-to-date on Scleroderma Foundation and Scleroderma Foundation of Greater Washington D.C. developments and activities.

Duties:

  1. Send newsletters and brochures to area physicians.
  2. Work with Volunteer Contact to create and maintain listing or database of physicians.

Materials: Newsletters and brochures will be provided as well as mailing supplies. Postage will be reimbursed.

SFGW Volunteer: Health Fair Assistants

Responsibilities: Volunteers will work with Volunteer Contact to staff booths at health fairs.

Duties:

  1. Volunteer will aid Volunteer Contact in getting volunteers to staff booths by making phone calls or sending out notices.
  2. Volunteer will help Volunteer Contact in identifying area health fairs.

Materials: None.

SFGW Volunteer: Support Group Leaders

Responsibilities: Volunteer is responsible for the creation and coordination of Support Group.

Duties:

  1. Each volunteer must attend a SF approved training session.
  2. Volunteer will facilitate Support Group according to SF guidelines.

Materials: Training Manual. Other resources upon request.

SFGW Volunteer: Book Stall Managers

Responsibilities: Volunteer is responsible for the display of SF brochures and books at educational meetings. Answer questions for SFGW members and handles any book sales.

Duties:

  1. Must be able to attend SFGW Educational Meetings or arrange for substitute.
  2. Bring brochures and books to each meeting and arrange table.
  3. Maintain inventory.
  4. Call Volunteer Contact when supply is low.
  5. Process book orders and purchases.
  6. Submit book orders to Volunteer Contact.

Materials: Volunteer is given a portable container equipped with brochures, scleroderma related books, order forms for brochures and books and money case.

SFGW Volunteer: Medical Advisory Board Communications

Responsibilities: Volunteers will keep Medical Advisory Board (MAB) up-to-date on SF and SFGW developments and activities.

Duties:

  1. Send MAB newsletters and brochures.
  2. Help coordinate Volunteer Appreciation/MAB Dinner (fall).
  3. Other tasks as they arise.

Materials: Volunteers will be provided with newsletters, brochures and mailing supplies. Volunteer will be reimbursed for postage.

SFGW Volunteer: Fundraising Assistants

Responsibilities: Volunteers will work with Volunteer Contact in coordinating fundraising events: Pike’s Peak (April) and Annual Drive (Holiday Season).

Duties:

  1. Volunteer will aid Volunteer Contact in getting volunteers for fundraising events and help in creating volunteer schedules.
  2. Volunteer will also help in the promotion of these events. This may include distributing promotional materials, mailing out special letters, etc.
