The Sixth Annual Houston/Conroe Stepping Out to Cure Scleroderma 5K Walk to raise money for Scleroderma education, support, and research will take place in Bear Creek Park on Sunday, April 27, 2008, rain or shine. The walk is sponsored by the Scleroderma Foundation’s Texas Bluebonnet Chapter.
Sign-in will begin in Pavilion #6 at Bear Creek Park, starting at 7:00 am, where pledges will be turned in and t-shirts and race packets handed out. There will not be a certified run this year; however, runners wanting to run the 5K track and time themselves will be accommodated by starting ahead of the walkers. The 5K fun run begins promptly at 8:00 am, the 1K kids’ run at 8:05 am, and the 5K walk at 8:15 am. The course is an asphalt double lane loop winding through shady Bear Creek Park.
Online registration: To assist runners/walkers in registering and signing-up sponsors, the Chapter has arranged with Firstgiving to provide individualized online pledging pages for each interested participant. In addition to registering online through Firstgiving, runners/walkers and other interested supporters can set up their own personalized fundraising page by selecting the “Register Online” button to the left. Runners/walkers can e-mail the link to their personalized page to potential sponsors they know throughout the world. www.firstgiving.com/scl-bluebonnet
