Boise Support Group
Has First Meeting
We had our first get together Saturday, October 26, at the Sizzler
in Ontario, Oregon. And it was great!! Support Group leader, Judy
Martin, recaps the day:
There were 13 of us (10 with scleroderma
and 3 spouses). Two others with scleroderma had to cancel, but
plan to make it to the next meeting.
The group just seemed
so right... as if we were long time friends. We learned a great
deal from each other. During our three-hour luncheon, I learned
more about scleroderma, medication, exercise, food, and clothing
than I have during four years of doctor visits and tests.
Many in the group were
quite amazed at the people who had contacted me, but lived too
far away to attend. Since most of us are not working, we want
to take our dog and pony show on the road to meet with others
around the state. We will try to get more Support Groups going.
How's that for enthusiasm?
Our winter project will
be reaching out to other areas to find out who is where. We will
also map out our travel strategy. I hope this idea fits in with
the Foundation's goals because I don't think this group of movers
and shakers can be held back!
