Dave and Eileene Ault met with Sen. Roger Wicker and his wife Gayle at Curtis Grocery during the Senator's "Back Roads Tour." Grassroots Advocacy

Dave and Eileene Ault met with Sen. Roger Wicker and his wife Gayle at Curtis Grocery during the Senator's "Back Roads Tour." The Aults, along with their daughter Darleene Nabors, facilitate DeSoto County's only Scleroderma Support Group. The senator was very interested in learning more about scleroderma. Historically Sen. Wicker has voted to support bills for research dollars for orphan diseases, such as scleroderma. The Aults gave the senator an information packet and thanked him for his support. They discussed the work of the National Scleroderma Foundation and the need for more research dollars to find a cure for this devastating disease.

Eileene Ault, coleader of the North Mississippi Support Group, attended the 2008 National Conference. "For me attending the meetings gives me hope. Meeting all the wonderful people who have learned to live life to the fullest in spite of scleroderma, encourages me to do my very best. When I leave the conference I am refueled and ready to offer support and educate those living with this disease."

North Mississippi Support Group Members Interviewed on Fox 13
September 8, 2007

September was an exciting month for our group. In September group member, Eileene Ault was interviewed on the Good Morning Memphis Show. The show is a live broadcast on Fox 13; Eileene was interview by health reporter, Lauren Johnson. Eileene had the opportunity to talk about scleroderma and the 5K walk. Reporter Lauren Johnson had never heard of scleroderma and was very interested in learning about the disease. She agreed to do a news segment for the evening news, which would reach a larger audience.

Lauren Johnson interviewed 10-year-old Antonella, who was diagnosed with Linear Scleroderma when she was 3 years old. The taping was done at her school to show the challenges she meets each day. Also featured in the evening news broadcast was Dr. David Boatright and group member Eileene Ault. The evening news segment was aired at 5 and 9 p.m. It was an exciting day for the Mississippi group and for scleroderma. We were able to reach a large audience through the TV media. This was a great kick-off for our walk.
