Victoria Chavez

Hello Scleroderma Support Group Members,

I hope you and your family are all doing well.

Victoria Chavez, one of our dear Sacramento Support Group members, will be going through a stem cell transplant treatment this coming spring. There was a very informative and inspiring article in the "Sacramento Bee" this past Sunday that featured her. If you missed that paper, you can visit the Sac Bee website and view the article here: http://www.sacbee.com/creamer/story/730289.html.

The document below is information about the different ways we can show our support to Victoria.

She also has a "CarePage" that you can visit at anytime to find out how she is doing, plus you can even post messages for her on the CarePages' Web site. Visit www.carepage.com, then go to visit care page, then type in her name. If you want to contact Victoria personally, her email address is vicknbob@surewest.net.

There is no such thing as a "small amount" when we help someone in need. Victoria needs our help. Any support we can give will be an enormous help for Victoria and her family.

Please remember to include her in your prayers too.

Thank you for your time reading this and for considering helping our fellow support group member.

Beautiful day in Sacramento for "Stepping Out to Cure Scleroderma"

September 30 was a beautiful sunny day in Sacramento, California made even better by the2007 Sacramento Stepping Out to Cure Scleroderma 5th Annual Stepping Out to Cure Scleroderma Walk.
About 250 people came to the steps of the state capitol to increase awareness and raise money to fight scleroderma. At this time we are at over $17,000 with fundraising pages still open.

The event was emceed by Amanda Garcia, America's Miss 2007. Amanda's grandmother passed away last year from scleroderma and she is working with the Northern California Chapter to increase awareness about the disease.

We had many raffle prizes and a silent auction, as well as donations of food and beverages. There were walkers of all ages on the 2 mile trip to Old Town Sacramento and back. Several groups were walking in memory of a family member who has lost their battle with scleroderma. Also family and friends came out in support of those of us who are still fighting to live a good life with scleroderma.

We thank all of our volunteers, donors and walkers and look forward to next year's walk!

Cathy Eddy, Northern California Chapter President
