6th Annual Worcester Walk-A-Thon
To Cure Scleroderma
Scheduled for May 4, 2008

The Sixth Annual Worcester Walk-A-Thon To Cure Scleroderma will take place in the City of Worcester, Mass., on Sunday, May 4, rain or shine.
Sign-in will begin in the Bancroft School Gym, 110 Shore Drive, starting at 10 a.m., where pledges will be turned in and T-shirts handed out. The Walk steps off at 12 noon. The 3.5-mile route will take walkers around scenic Indian Lake, across the street from the School, and back to Bancroft for refreshments, games and entertainment.
To assist walkers in registering and signing-up sponsors, the Chapter has arranged with Firstgiving to provide individualized online pledging pages for each interested participant. In addition to registering online through Firstgiving, walkers and other interested supporters can set up their own personalized fundraising page by selecting the “Register Online” button to the left. Walkers can e-mail the link to their personalized page to potential sponsors they know locally and throughout the world.
Walkers can also register by mail or in person on Walk Day by printing out a Registration Form and Pledge Sheet from this web page by selecting the appropriate options to the left. It is requested that mailed registration forms be returned to the Scleroderma Foundation,/New England (SF/NE) Office (462 Boston Street, Suite 1-1, Topsfield, MA 01983) before April 25 to ease the sign-in process on Walk Day. Registration forms and pledge sheets will also be accepted on Walk Day, May 4.
This year’s Walk is being organized by members of the Sigma Pi Gamma Iota Fraternity at Worcester Polytechnic Institute, students at the Bancroft School and members of the Worcester Scleroderma Support Group. Funds raised by the Walk will be used by SF/NE to fulfilling its mission of: providing educational and emotional support to people with scleroderma and their families; enhancing public awareness about this disease; and stimulating and supporting research designed to identify the cause of and cure for scleroderma, as well as to improve methods of treatment.
Last year’s Worcester Walk-A-Thon To Cure Scleroderma raised $28,000, which helped make it possible for SF/NE to underwrite $100,000 in scleroderma research for 2007 through the national Scleroderma Foundation’s Research Program.
Questions: If you have a question about the Walk, you can e-mail it to the committee at: scworcester@gmail.com, or you can call the SF/NE Office, toll free at 888-525-0658.
