Originally from Alaska, Jordana Schmidt has worked within the healthcare industry in the Twin Cities for the past 15 years as an Administrative Assistant and Project Manager. Her skills and attention to detail have been utilized by leadership within Human Resources, Community Relations, Care Delivery Marketing, a Pharmacy Call Center and currently with Regulatory Affairs & Audit department at UnitedHealth Group.
During her time supporting the Community Relations Department she developed a strong passion to become involved with the community by doing volunteer work. Her first encounter was being matched by the Children’s Home Society and Family Services as a mentor to a teen mother who desired to finish high school and keep her child. During this time, she became a Team Captain for the American Cancer Society’s Relay For Life in Bloomington for two years before taking on the role of a Committee Member for the next three years. Always on the lookout for new adventures and opportunities, she currently was a volunteer for “Tee Up For Our Troops” raising awareness and funds for disabled soldiers and their families.
In 2007 Jordana was in transition with a new job; just prior to that, her husband was diagnosed with Scleroderma. As she was settling into her new position, she got to know one of her co-workers well enough to confide in him about the recent diagnosis of the disease. That co-worker turned out to be Lee Roy Jones, President of the Scleroderma Society, MN Chapter! Since then she has organized the first motorcycle ride to help raise funds and awareness for the cause, became a Board Member and helped oversee the 2009 Stepping Out to Cure Scleroderma Walk and anticipates a very successful 2010 walk.
In her spare time she likes to relax with her family and friends and by gardening, fishing reading and riding her motorcycle along country roads. |
