2011 Dixon Walk

On the most beautiful September morning, we held the 2nd Annual Stepping out for Scleroderma. We had a special surprise for everyone, Steve Shannon from 97ZOK was our most phenomenonal DJ and MC we could ask for, he actually vowed to keep coming back to our walk as long as we continued to do them free of charge!

Kicking off the walk again this year was Illinois Senator Tim Bivins. Over 200 walkers were in attendance in beautiful Lowell Park to take a 1 or 3 mile stroll along the beautiful Rock River, and the wooded trails.

Walkers gathered under the Lions pavilion for the silent, live and raffle auction of over 50 wonderful prizes ranging from hair product baskets to Chicago sports memorabilia. The highest bidders for the silent auction took home signed footballs from Chicago Bears kicker Robbie Gould and Carolina Panthers Sean Considine.

There was something for everyone, with face painting for the children, and a local women’s group MOPS baked a ton of homemade goodies whose proceeds went towards the walk. The community really rallied together around us to make our 2nd year an overwhelming success! We could not be happier with how everything turned out
