Surf’s Up!
322 Walkers came out to support the 9th Annual Stepping Out to Cure Scleroderma Walk at the Jersey shore, this time in Manasquan, NJ, on June 5, 2009. Mother Nature cooperated and provided a warm sunny day and the Manasquan Beach walkway provided a charming backdrop for the scleroderma community to share in the spirit of raising public awareness and raising funds for research. Many volunteers and walkers gathered post-walk at Bar Anticipations in nearby Lake Como for a barbeque buffet and a chance to unwind with friends and relatives.
To date this event has raised $21,000. We were pleased to present awards to our teams with the most walkers:
1st Place: Karen’ Kin (46 walkers)
2nd Place: Helen’s Angels (35 walkers)
3rd Place: Grandma Doris’ Kids (34 walkers)
We were also able to present recognition awards to the 2008 teams who raised the most money:
1st Place: Helen’s Angels ($6905)
2nd Place: Jenny’s Journey ($2730)
3rd Place: Grandma Doris’ Kids ($2335)
We couldn’t have done it without the support of :
United Therapeutics
Ocean Trophies
Spring Lake Freezer
Guitar Center of Cherry Hill
Bar Anticipations in Lake Como
Entenmann’s Bakeries of Brick and Clementon
And of course all our volunteers who generously donated water to the walk, as well as their time, effort, and great spirit.
THANK YOU TO ALL
It’s not too early to plan for next year. Please contact the SFDV office if you would like to help in 2010. See you then!

Tee Time!
On June 15, 2009, over 150 golfers came to the Rossmoor Golf Club in Monroe, NJ, to play in the Annual Bruce MacCutcheon Marilyn Lacy Memorial Golf Classic. Through their generosity over $11,000 was raised to support the Delaware Valley Chapter of the Scleroderma Foundation. Not only did those attending enjoy a sunny day and 18 holes of golf, but they were also provided a continental breakfast, a barbeque lunch, a complete steak dinner, and the chance to win great raffle prizes.
Many thanks to the MacCutcheon and Lacy families who continue to hold this event in the memory of Bruce and Marilyn. The Delaware Valley Chapter of the Scleroderma Foundation is grateful for their generous donation.

Scrappin' for Scleroderma
Jill Petitto from Team Petitto organized the 2nd Annual “Scrappin for Scleroderma” fundraising event which took place in March in Allentown, NJ. The event raised $3,000 in proceeds benefiting the Scleroderma Foundation Delaware Valley Chapter. The very successful event sold out for the second year in a row with 48 people attending the fundraiser. The day of fun included hours of scrapbooking, door prizes, raffle prizes, breakfast, lunch and dinner. This affair is held in memory of Michael Pettito, Jill Petitto’s husband, who lost his battle with scleroderma four years ago after battling the disease for more than fifteen years. Thanks to Jill for her continued support!
