Scleroderma Foundation Congressional Policy Luncheon
On Wednesday, October 7th the Scleroderma Foundation will be hosting a congressional luncheon briefing to educate members of Congress, Senators, and their staffs on the Scleroderma Research and Awareness Act (H.R. 2408/S. 1545). The luncheon will include comments from lawmakers, patients, and researchers.
In order to ensure the best possible turn out, the Scleroderma Foundation needs you to contact your federal lawmakers and ask them to attend the luncheon. The Luncheon will be from 12 noon to 1:15 p.m. in the Member of Congress Room of the Library of Congress Jefferson Building in Washington, D.C.
To find your Representative and their contact information, simply visit www.house.gov and enter your zip code. To find your Senators simply visit www.senate.gov and select your state from the drop-down menu in the upper right corner.
Talking Points for calling your Representative and Senator’s Offices:
- Identify yourself as a constituent.
- Ask to speak with the staff member who handles health issues.
- Briefly explain what scleroderma is and tell them your story.
- Tell them about the luncheon on October 7th and ask them to attend.
- Thank them for their time and ask them to let you know if they can attend the luncheon.
- If you receive the voicemail recording of a health staffer, please leave a message including the above information and your contact information.
- Phone calls work best, however, please feel free to e-mail your member of Congress this important information.
