The Michigan Chapter Needs YOU!
Every nonprofit organization needs the help of its Board in areas such as planning, fund-raising, and community relations. Although these activities must be managed, the top executive and the organization will be less effective without the active involvement of the Board in these areas. The Scleroderma Foundation Michigan Chapter currently has a Board of Directors made up of a Board President, Vice President, Treasurer, Secretary and board members. The Michigan Chapter also has a Medical Advisory Board made up of physicians and dentists that are knowledgeable in the field of scleroderma related work.
The Michigan Chapter also has several committees that community members can join. The following are descriptions of the current committees:
- Development and Advocacy – reviews the MI Chapter’s Strategic Plan and the MI Chapter’s Development Plan. This committee is charged with overseeing the awareness and advocacy efforts of the MI Chapter.
- Finance Committee – provides the Board of Directors with advice and counsel regarding polices, strategies and reviews the initiatives as they relate to the MI Chapter’s fiscal matters. Committee also assists with the Investment Plan and Budget Plan of the MI Chapter.
- By-laws Committee- reviews the MI Chapter’s by-laws on a yearly basis and provides advice and counsel to the Board of Directors regarding changes to, or interpretations of, the MI Chapter’s by-laws.
- Walk Committee- enhances the development of the MI Chapter’s walks and runs in the state of MI. The committee works directly with the Executive Director in securing the fundraising efforts securing sponsorship, in-kind donations and motivating participants to attend the events.
- Gala Committee – members work on the development of the MI Chapter’s dinner event. Members assist with the planning of the event and the securing of the sponsorship and selling of the tables/tickets. Members work with the Executive Director on the planning and collaboration of the event.
